Prof Okuthe P. Kogeda holds a PhD from the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and is currently an Associate Professor at the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN), School of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science, Department of Computer Science. He previously worked at UWC as a Lecturer while doing his PhD [2003], UFH as a Senior Lecturer where he did a lot of research in ICT4D mainly around Dwesa in Eastern Cape province [2009], and TUT as a Senior Lecturer where he continued to work in ICT4D in Ekangala, Sokhulumi and Pongola [2011]; and UFS as Associate Professor, where he continued doing research in ICT4D, IoT, and wireless networks [2019]. 

Prof Kogeda is a C2 NRF-rated researcher. He has supervised to completion over 50 honours graduates, 25 Mscie/MTech/MComp graduates, and 4 doctoral graduates. He has published over 36 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 8 Chapters in books, 3 books, and over 65 articles in conference proceedings. He has attracted various funding including Kenya/SA joint science and technology research collaboration, Zambia/SA research cooperation programme, etc. He is currently a member of IITPSA, IEEE, IAENG, etc. He is a reviewer and editor of many international journals. He is a holder of one patent.
